Confirmation Program

High School Program Information

In response to new Diocesan guidelines regarding catechetical programs, we have had to make some changes to what has formerly been called our ‘Confirmation Program’.  Our new “High School” format addresses the new guidelines and differs from our previous program.

New requirements include:  Formation, Sacrament Preparation for Confirmation, and a Retreat experience.

FORMATION:

Students will complete classroom course work.  Parents may choose one of three options for class dates and times.   Once the formation coursework is complete, parents may register the candidate (no additional fee) for Sacrament Preparation sessions.

SACRAMENT PREPARATION FOR CONFIRMATION:

Students and sponsors (or parent) will participate in three large-group sessions, designed to explore the actual rite of Confirmation.   Each session will be offered on two different dates.

RETREAT:

Students must participate in a retreat experience prior to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The retreat is typically held in the fall; no date has been set for 2012.  The retreat experience is designed for students only, and they must have completed the Formation coursework in order to attend the retreat experience.

STUDENT ABSENCES:

Fall and Winter sessions: absence for family emergencies will be considered on a case-by case basis.   More than one absence will require registration in another session.  With our new offering of the Summer session, an absence will require registration in either the Fall or Winter sessions.
